Ella & Gehrig

The first thing Ella & Gehrig's mom told me about their session was that she wanted it to be on the University of Montevallo campus. That's where she graduated and wanted the rich history to be a big part of her photos. So, off we went.

Ella was a dream to shoot. I'm not sure I heard one little whimper come out of her mouth. Gehrig was a pistol! He won me over when we both got into our cars to leave and he cried because I wasn't coming along with him. My heart melted.

Paul Waylon

Secrets, secrets. I love a good one. I can keep one like a superhero. But, it's always hard to do when there are cute babies with chubby cheeks involved. The surprise? Dad wanted to surprise Mom with pictures of Paul Waylon for her birthday. So, that's what we did! I think it's safe to say it seems to be harder for a Dad to surprise a stay at home mom with something that involves her 6 month old boy.

So, without further adieu, here he is...Paul Waylon!

A Birth Story: Claire Elizabeth

When I found out my friend Carla was expecting a baby, I just had to throw out the idea of documenting the birth. I prepared myself for being laughed at and promptly being thrown out of the room. But, she was totally for it!

Now, fast forward to this Thursday, her doctor's appointment confirmed a scheduled induction for Wednesday morning, the 28th. I have to say...I was disappointed by this news. A middle of the week, middle of the day birth doesn't mesh well with my other job. So, I was bummed out.

Friday night I got this text from Carla's husband, Justin:

And off to the hospital we go!
10:16pm - waiting, waiting, waiting...


10:23pm - The doctor is here! She and Carla's nurse were wonderful!


10:34pm - Sweet Justin giving Carla some much deserved ice chips.

10:45pm - Contractions are coming on stronger and faster. She was probably the most polite mother in labor you've ever seen. None of the screaming or absurd cliches fit this tough cookie.
Nurse: "Do you feel like pushing?"
Carla: "Sure."

10:55pm - Claire Elizabeth is here!


Eyes are wide open!







Congratulations to Carla & Justin! I love you guys. Your baby girl is beautiful. I so look forward to documenting this first wonderful year of Claire.
