Home Improvement '09

This is the finished product! I thought I'd show you the whole shebang before breaking down the dirty details.

That "W" flag flies high during the spring/summer to encourage the Chicago Cubs to go all the way!

My dear Dad painting our shutters "new black" to replace the unfortunate blue color that was there before. Here's a little tip: when dealing with black paint and your driveway, make sure the paint can is tightly closed before giving it a good shake.

Here you can just barely see the before color. My Dad's awesomeness, however, is very much visible. You can also see a small bit of our front door that got pimped out with red paint, peep hole, knocker and house numbers.

Ah, backsplash. When we bought out house, there was a white, metal plate-thing that was hanging here. After flinging the hideous thing out of the window, I decided on subway tile.
Before:

After:
*Note the 100th pot of tea I made in a matter of 5 days cooling on the stove.
Next task at hand: convert a useless foyer closet into a built in bookshelves.
And there you have it. It may not seem like a lot of projects, but believe you me, it was. Kent, my Dad and I had a wonderful time together. I can feel Kent rolling his eyes already at the next few projects that I have in store to suggest.

Carmen,

Everything looks great. You three did a wonderful job. Good colors and updates. I am so proud of your ideas for your home. Glad you got to spend time with your Dad and he got to see how beautiful you have gotten and how well you and Kent are doing....
